Spring, Please.
So I suppose its been a few days since I've shared my thoughts and ideas. I've got some thoughts and ideas now. This'll be a hell of a post. It was yesterday on the bus ride to PW that I thought I finally had something to write about. These always seems to be something wrong with these bus rides. You remember a few posts ago with the bus that broke down, well this bus worked perfectly, it was actually a very nice bus. There were fancy lights, and carpet on the walls and mirrors on the ceiling. These perks were immediately muted out, literally, by the sound of Italian opera music. I had my iPod in, but couldn't even hear my own music. Meghan was sitting beside me but we couldn't talk because of the obnoxious noise coming from the five thousand speakers in this wonderful bus. Luckily it was kinda warm out, but the wind made it colder.
I am thoroughly upset, to say the least, with George Mason. We have almost an unlimited amount of money, yet they still charge unreasonable amounts of money for just about everything. Housing just went up another 500-1000 dollars for what? The room now, and the room I will get has not changed. Don't try and say that it will be a better room. GMU cant even finish one thing. Stop doing construction in 45 different places at once and concentrate on one and maybe, just maybe something will get done. Roads are closed, sidewalks are torn up, I was late to class because you have some stupid guy in a trench coat waiving his finger at me saying I can't bike up a road that you just let 18 cars go on. Share the road and don't make me late to class. You want me to keep going to your school and giving you money? How about you make me want to stay here. Don't act surprised when you get hundreds of complaints on housing and construction on campus. You're turning this into middle school again when you try to hold our hands and say what we can and cant do. How about take a poll of the students and see what we want, and don't want. Don't just guess and think we'll be happy with your decisions. You're not pleasing anybody by raising prices and limiting the student body to what they can and cannot do. Isn't it supposed to be a learning community? Learning happens when you are happy with your situations. If I get told to walk somewhere else on my way to class and it causes me to be late, I am losing my educational opportunities and it pisses me off. I take classes because 1.) I am interested in them, and 2.) I need to take them. Don't make unannounced changes and force the consequences upon me. It doesn't make me happy, as you can tell. Somethings got to change. Its not going to be me.

Valentines day?
Probably the dumbest holiday ever created. Hallmark, I'm not falling for your cheap tricks. Today is no different than yesterday and no different than tomorrow will be. Why should you show someone you care today, and not every day? Doesn't that defeat the purpose if you have to be told when to do something nice? Why not just do something nice every day? I'm not going out tonight. I didn't get anybody roses because they're dead anyway. Here honey, heres some death. No. Thats dumb. I don't care if you agree with me or if you cant stand a thing I say. I didn't say you had to read this. You don't like what I say? I don't care what you have to say then.
Anybody else agree with me on valentines day?

Goodnight
not much to say about today. goin to bed maybe I'll write more tomorrow.
Goodnight to whomever reads my blog.
Don't be afraid to comment on this. It would be nice to know if people actually read this.

Post for yesterday, 2/10/11
Total and complete failure of a day. I woke up at 7:15 and knew that it wasn't going to be a good day. I didn't even feel like going to class, but I still did. Of course the bus had to break down 10 miles away from PW campus. It took a few minutes to get it running again...sorta. It may have been one of ten thousand things that could have gone wrong on these old buses but whatever it was, it caused the entire bus to shake rather violently back and forth for the remaining ten miles to school. We got to PW campus and I had barely recovered from my throbbing headache and whiplash, so I decided I would get some hot chocolate because it was pretty cold on a bus with little or no heat blowing. With my luck, I would burn my tongue/throat on the first sip. 24 hours later it still hurts. Got to class and sat down expecting to learn something new on this...wonderful new day. Nope, not one person understood a single powerpoint slide from the 70+ she showed us. After an hour and change 'learning' about the endocrine system, which we still know little about thanks to uninformative powerpoint slides, it was time to get back on a bus to get back to Fairfax. Class let out at about 10:10. The bus comes every hour, on the hour. Yep, 50 more minutes to wait. The bus ride back was alright except that I got stuck in the back, pretty close to the rear axle, so every tiny bump we went over, I was sure to know it. My neck, head, and now my back were sore as I walked back to my room to maybe take a nap and sleep it off. Said nap never happened, but we did go get chick-fil-a for lunch. Well, attempted to. There were no doors even close to cfa, but the line was out the door. I wasn't waiting that long for some chicken. Instead, I got some fake chipotle, and you can tell when its fake. Meghan needed to pick up a prescription from giant, get some gas, and an oil change. Why not do that? Nothing can go wrong there, right? Giant got the wrong prescription and she needs to go back tomorrow, gas is still expensive so she could only get a gallon and a half, which luckily gets her about 50-60 miles in her 95 Honda civic. You may be saying, 50-60 mpg, that's awesome I wish I got that! Yeah at least your brakes work. I'll explain in a sec after I try to figure out why nobody wants to do oil changes in Fairfax, VA. Went to one place, no mechanics. Riiiiight. Another place, the guy told me it would take some time and to go somewhere else. ARE YOU STUPID? Oil changes don't take 5 min. They take time. I know that. You're trying to make money. I'm trying to get a stupid oil change. You don't want money? I'll make sure everybody knows that. Back to the civic. The brakes...I just don't know whats wrong with them. They were fine last time we drove somewhere, which was about 3 weeks ago. Parked the car and it was fine. Come back today and there is a clicking noise coming from the rear left brake. I get out to check it, but because of the cheap rims that have holes the size of a quarter in them I cant feel or even hardly see the rotor. That clicking is still there. And we still don't have an oil change. I'll do it myself, thanks Fairfax. Another problem. Housing. Why are we building brand new dorms that are basically like hotel suites, for freshmen? Why not give the worst housing to them, like we got this year? We're in some of the oldest dorms on campus, and the new ones are for upperclassmen. How about we keep it that way? I think the only good thing that happened yesterday was a 10/10 on an online bio quiz. Great day, wouldn't you agree? Off to class now lets see how today goes. Oh yeah and instead of working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday like last week, I only got scheduled for Saturday. Hmmm....

Phil, You're Wrong
So I was thinking about groundhog day earlier. Anybody ever wonder why we let a small furry mammal that lives underground for half the year decide whether or not spring comes early? Who thought that made sense? Hmm...nope, no shadow...SPRINGS COMING! Really?
I say that Phil is wrong, because he so kindly decided that we would have an early spring, but today was in the 30s with winds around 30mph. Sound like spring to you? After lab at PW a friend and I played a game of table tennis. Quite challenging in such winds, to say the least. Before I forget, Joshua this is for you http://www.wimp.com/bornrun/
I'm still waiting on conformation of a broken world record for the most cheese balls fit in an open mouth. The record was 25. I got 26.
No new news about my bike so I guess thats it for now...

Work and such
I can't wait for summer. I woke up this morning and looked outside and for some reason I was reminded of the beginning of the year and being outside with nice weather (girls tanning in bikinis (; ). It was just a good time, going to classes in shorts and a t-shirt instead of gloves, hats, scarves, jackets, snow pants, and boots (and the occasional cross country skis needed to get to class). Its just more comfortable, and also better biking weather. Snow and cold and winter dont stop me though. I'm pretty sure I'm the only kid biking right now. All the other bikes are either gone or locked up (I'm sorry, bikes. You'll get ridden eventually...)
So work so far has been pretty fun I would say. Started learning how the system works and how to find things faster. I dont care if its my third day working, don't tell me what you do and dont have to sign. there are no magic receipts that print on the back printer that only print for you and your car will explode if you dont sign it. Also, dont give me expired, cracked, or bent credit cards and look at me like I'm crazy when I ask you for another card to use. And when the system says your card is denied, its denied.
WHERES THE CHAPSTICK?!
I foundddddd the chapstick.

Back in Sterling
First day of work today. Not bad at all, quite fun actually. Note to anybody coming in: Don't give us an expired motorcycle learners permit in exchange to BORROW a code scanner and drive off with the scanner. Youre just screwing yourself over because now you cant learn to drive your motorcycle (like you ever would (its expired, too. Idiot.)) and the scanner doesn't even work. Who lost that battle? You.
So whats up with this weather? Why cant we just get snow like they say we will. Not rain. Not freezing rain (as mentioned in previous posts). So back to bikes...mtn bike...single speed..you know the problem by now. I'm thinking I'll just add another link, or remove one and keep playing with the length until it sits in one gear that is comfortable. We'll see how that goes...
Oh yeah, ski bike. We'll see how that goes too...

CPB: Made From the Best Stuff on Earth
so I'm not sure about the title...just sounded cool I guess. Not bad weather today, in the low 50s, sunny, and Phil says we have an early spring this year. We'll see about that because were supposed to get more snow on Saturday. Went to the gym for about 4 hours today. Great workout mostly because of the hour cycling class and sauna after. Chick fil a never tasted so good. So good I decided to get a chicken sandwich, three 8-piece nuggets, two medium fries and a large fry. Something like 4400 calories (not that I'm counting) and 120 grams of protein. yumm. Cycling was a great workout and I'm trying to go almost every day after classes until it warms up enough to go riding outside. Mountain bike is alright and I found a way to make a cheap chain tensioner. Going home this weekend for work and to make the skis for the mtn bike and the chain tensioner which is comprised of a small piece of pvc pipe and some zip ties. Side note: I put up an exit sign in the window of our dorm for laughs. haha

"Snow day"
LCPS never got snow days...except for the year after I leave. I almost ate it walking to the bus stop this morning at 7:50am because of the ice on the sidewalks. Anyway I learned a lot in school today so that's good. Still wish I had a bike to ride. I broke the rear derailleur on my old mountain bike for like the third time and finally decided I would just make it a single speed instead of getting another derailleur. I had to break the chain using a nail punch and a vise (shows how cheap I am) instead of getting a 9 dollar chain break tool. Shortened the chain by a few links and reinstalled it and thought it would work but of course it didn't. I need a chain tensioner to keep the chain on the cog I want. Maybe I'll figure out something cheaper though.
